How do I find reliable information about hemp and cannabis when both have been largely illegal in most countries?

Please be careful when doing your research. One of the first things I learned while working in one of the Maryland Medical Cannabis Dispensaries was that about 75% of the written information about cannabis was somewhat reliable. The problem was figuring out which sources of information are reliable.

Israel has been a world leader in government lead research into medical uses for cannabis. The United States National Institute of Health has begun to conduct research into cannabis around 2020. While data is being collected we do not know the full story of how best to use CBD.

Is CBD going to take my pain away? Will I feel better?

Due to the lack of definitive research we simply do not completely understand the full potential of CBD. CBD is also believed to potentially have bi-directional impacts on people. This is a fancy way of saying that CBD may impact me one way and you another. Currently, there is an element of trail and error regarding the most effective dosage for you and just how impactful CBD is for you.

What is the difference between hemp and cannabis (pot or marijuana)?

Cannabis and Hemp are very closely related. The legal difference hinges on the total percentage of tetrahydrocannabinol or THC for short. Cannabis legally has more than 0.3% THC and Hemp has less than 0.3% THC. Please feel free to learn more about the legal difference between Cannabis and Hemp directly from the Food and Drug Administration.

Is there any Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in Fishman’s Natural Products?

We only use lab tested industrial hemp that conforms with Federal hemp standards. Legally, industrial hemp can contain up to but not more than 0.3% Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

Here are the independent laboratory results:

Does Hemp Seed Oil have CBD?

No. CBD is only present in mature plants. The CBD develops in the plant over time as it grows and develops. The only way to get CBD is either from mature hemp or cannabis.

What is Hemp Extract and how is it extracted?

Hemp extract is most commonly made with harsh solvents that essentially strip-mine only the CBD out of the hemp and leave behind all the lesser known cannabinoids and terpenes. Use of solvents provides an odor free delivery of CBD, but it also introduces harsh chemicals into your body. The most common solvent is either isopropyl or grain alcohol. However, there is another way. CBD binds very well with natural oils like coconut or butter as do the other cannabinoids and terpenes. This means taking a little more time and effort provides a more well rounded approach to CBD delivery.

What are CBD Hemp-Infused Products?

CBD, a non-intoxicating phytocannabinoid from hemp, interacts with the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) by influencing endocannabinoid production and binding to receptors. When infused into skin care products, CBD has the potential to provide soothing, hydrating, and calming effects, promoting healthy and rejuvenated skin. Understanding how CBD interacts with the ECS is fundamental in creating effective CBD hemp skin care solutions that contribute to overall skin well-being and radiance.

Fishman’s Natural utilizes a diverse array of hemp’s beneficial compounds in our full spectrum products, working synergistically to aid the body’s natural support system.*

What is the Endocannabinoid System (ECS)?

The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a sophisticated network within the human body and in many animals, including us. Additionally, to maintain internal stability and balance, or homeostasis, ESC plays a pivotal role by regulating various physiological and cognitive processes.

Within the ECS, there are three main components; Endocannabinoids (eCBs), Cannabinoid Receptors (CB1 & CB2) and Enzymes like fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) and monoacylglycerol lipase (MAGL).

ECS marvelously manages a variety of biological functions, especially relevant to CBD hemp skin care products:

  • Skin health and balance: The ECS influences the skin’s health, contributing to factors like oil production, inflammation, and hydration.
  • Pain perception and relief: Helps in managing the perception of pain and how the body responds to it. Potentially beneficial for addressing skin discomfort.
  • Inflammation control: The ECS actively manages inflammatory responses, potentially playing a vital role in soothing and calming the skin.
  • Moisture regulation: Additionally, it plays a role in keeping the skin appropriately moisturized and balanced.

What are Cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids, a diverse group of natural chemical compounds, exist abundantly in hemp, a variety of the cannabis plant (Cannabis sativa). Furthermore, these compounds interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS), a network of receptors and neurotransmitters that play a vital role in maintaining balance within the skin.

Hemp contains over 100 different cannabinoids, each with its unique properties. The two most prominent cannabinoids in hemp are Cannabidiol (CBD) and Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

In addition to CBD, other cannabinoids found in hemp can contribute to potential skin benefits when infused into skincare products:

  • Cannabigerol (CBG): Overall, studies show that CBG may possess anti-inflammatory and soothing properties, which can potentially help calm the skin and address various skin concerns
  • Cannabichromene (CBC): CBC is non-psychoactive and may contribute to the overall anti-inflammatory and potentially beneficial effects of CBD-infused skincare products.

When used in hemp-infused skincare products, like our Fishman’s Natural products, cannabinoids interact with the skin’s ECS, helping to regulate various skin functions and promote overall skin health. These products aim to provide potential benefits such as soothing skin irritation, promoting hydration, and supporting a more balanced and rejuvenated complexion. Ongoing research continues to explore the potential of cannabinoids in skincare for improved skin wellness and appearance.*

What is Hemp Extract?

Hemp extract is a substance derived from the hemp plant, specifically from its flowers, leaves, and sometimes stems. This extract is rich in various compounds, the most notable of which are phytocannabinoids like cannabidiol (CBD). It is obtained through specialized extraction methods to isolate and concentrate the desired compounds from the hemp plant material.
